Sign up on the VOLUNTEER CALENDAR for Friday, April 7th at 3:00 PM.

Meet Your EEC Vol 4: LISA COLAIANNI

How did you get started with the National Cherry Blossom Festival, and how many years have you been volunteering with us?

I knew little about the Cherry Blossom Festival until my employer became a Parade sponsor.  As a non-designated living kidney donor, I was able to ride our float.  In doing so, I met lots of fun volunteers and staff and decided to become a volunteer myself.  This will be my fourth year volunteering.

Why did you want to join the EEC?

To become more involved in the Festival.

What is a fun fact about you?

I like to sky dive.

What is your favorite part about being a National Cherry Blossom Festival Volunteer?

Meeting lots of interesting people and being helpful to our community.

What would you say to someone thinking about volunteering with the National Cherry Blossom Festival? Any words of wisdom?

You will have the opportunity to engage in different type of activities and meet lots of interesting people and helping your community at the same time.

What do you do when you’re not volunteering with the National Cherry Blossom Festival?

I work with organ, eye, and tissue donor families and transplant recipients as well as educating our community on the importance of registering to be an organ donor.  Did you know 22 people die a day waiting for an organ?

What’s your favorite National Cherry Blossom Festival Memory?

After meeting donor families and transplant recipients,  Miss America texted one of her fellow contestants whose platform was organ donation to share her experience meeting these individuals.

Any wishes for the 2017 National Cherry Blossom Festival?

Beautiful warm weather that coincides with the peak of the cherry blossoms during the Festival
